Wednesday, December 11

Wednesday, December 11
Letter Study: Zz
 Popcorn Word: when
Writer's Workshop: Introduction to Editing (This is shown through our class story.)
Phonological Awareness:
Segment Initial Sounds: Using two strips of paper, each child pushes the strips together and say a word. A shorter piece is used for the initial sound and a longer piece for the ending part. For example: /p/ /ark/
Language Arts: Using the Reader's Theater book We Like Fruit, we are creating a "Fruit Chart" to see what we already know about fruit (kinds, looks, tastes). Working with the book, we will build concepts of print and academic/sight word vocabulary.
Computer class today followed by 15 minutes of Ipad use!

DAILY 5!

Smart Room Highlight: Practicing our Popcorn Words while bouncing on the Stability Balls

~We have a gift wrapping play center set up in our classroom now. The children will have fun wrapping one of the following to give to a friend: teddy bear, necklace, car, crayons, or a ball. This center helps the kids determine whether the gift should be wrapped in small, medium, or large paper. Other skills are: cutting, taping, and writing friends' names. To watch the recipients open a gift from a friend is priceless as both parties enjoy the anticipation. The gift is then returned to to wrapper for 're-gifting' to another friend. The fun keeps going on and on!

**We will be in need of tape and wrapping paper if you can help! Thank you!
