Letter Focus: Qq
Sight Word Focus: or

 Writer's Workshop: What can we write about? At this early stage of writing, many children struggle with changing topics (only writing about their dog, family, etc.) Modeling ideas and placing them on a big chart paper triggers bigger ideas. At this point, when a topic is chosen, your child draws a picture and receives support to write the sounds they hear to make the words about their picture.
Phonological Awareness: Identify Rhyming Words
Using the song This Old Man, the kids will identify the the rhyme that goes with each number. Do this at home but leave out the underlined rhyme so your child says it.

This old man, he played one;
He played knick-knack on my
thumb.
With a knick-knack paddy-whack,
give the dog a bone.
This old man came rolling home.
two/shoe
three/knee
four/door
