Letter Study: Nn

Phonological Awareness: Segment Initial Sounds

The kids guess an object that's in a bag and when it is guessed, will say the first sound alone. For instance: If they guess it's a rock in the bag, they say rock and then just /r/.
Language Arts: Comprehension Strategy: Analyze characters through their actions, words, thoughts, and feelings and visualizing (making a picture in their head) to deepen their understanding of the characters in the story.
A storybook reader is scheduled for 10:10 to read Monster Mash.
DAILY 5: The kids are learning a new component of DAILY 5
today called Work of Writing. They kids will work on writing letters, numbers, and copying their friends' names. Again, they will need to build stamina for this component.

Writer's Workshop: Today is day 1 of our our workshop and we talked about what is expected on the rug during workshop and what we will be learning about.  We will brainstorm stories that we will like to write about during writer's workshop.  The kids will have about 10 minutes to draw a picture of their first story and start writing the sounds they hear.

Time For Kids: Learn about the many jobs people do at the zoo.

Math: 3D Shapes Exploration/Writing 2, 3, 4, 5

The importance of exercise and fitness...

Physical Education class is sometimes the only physical activity students get throughout the day.  Did you know that children today spend a total of 7.5 hours in front of a screen?  OR that only 1 in 3 children are active every day?  Physical activity is so important and healthy lifestyles are created at an early age.
Check out my webpage for some interesting links about making healthy choices.

Also take time read about physical activity guidelines from the President's Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition.
