Language Arts: Again, we will use the poem Hot Cross Buns to work on using inflection, expression, and intonation to make their reading sound like talking. We will then move into reading Look at It Go! to practice these skills.

Writer's Workshop: We continue our work on Informational Reports. Once again, we look at tadpoles and write two topic sentences from pages 12-13.
Some adult frogs lay eggs.
The eggs hatch into tadpoles.

Math: Today we will keep working on story problem and again we will BE the number bond! Some bees were buzzing by the blue flowers. Do we know how many yet? No, we will need more information. Then 4 more joined them. Now there are 7. Okay, I know there are 7 in all and I already have 4. How many do I need to add?  I also can write the fact family for this problem. Watch! We work on other problems similar to this as well.

Writer's Workshop: Unfortunately, we ran out of time yesterday to have Writer's Workshop so We continue our work on Informational Reports. Today, we look at tadpoles and write two topic sentences from pages 8-9.
Tadpoles grow and change.
A tadpole grows legs. It loses its tail.
Math: Today we will keep working on story problems and again, the kids will BE the number bond! We are going to act out this story problem: There were 3 cupcakes on a plate. (Three children stand in a hula hoop). Some more were added. Now there are 7. (We think aloud as we count on to reach 7. These students move to the other hula hoop). How many were added? (We count the number we added to the other hula hoop) Now we write the fact family for this problem and guide the kids towards building subtraction equations.
