Language Arts: Finding the main idea and supporting details using the poster Busy Family.
Lesson Objectives:
~Identify a stated main idea based on a picture.
~Identify details that support the main idea.`
~Ask questions about a text.
A storybook reader is scheduled for 9:30 to read Rufus Goes to School.
Math: Same and different: Matching Quantities to 5
Yesterday we played a match it game with our partners. We had so much fun that I want to play it again! I will lay out 5 hexagons and then match it on the other side of the paper. I need to make sure I have the same thing and the same amount. I will need to count. On this side I have 5 yellow hexagons and on this side I have 5 yellow hexagons. Repeat modeling while counting each set. Model it incorrectly (1 on one side, 2 on the other) so you can talk about how they are not the same.
Whole Group Explore: In partners students will play “Match it”. One partner will put items on one side of their mat and say, "Match it.” Their partner will then match the manipulatives.
Observe and support student math talk. “Why is this the same?” “How do you know?”
