Letter Study: Kk
 Popcorn Word: I
Language Arts: Comprehension Strategy: Visualize/Analyze Character

Using the poster "Friends" we will work on these points:
~A character is a person, an animal, or a thing in a work for literature.
~Examining a character's actions, feelings, thoughts, and words-and what others say and think about him or her-allows readers to make inferences about the character.
~Understanding characters in a story helps readers better understand the story.

A storybook reader is scheduled for 9:30 to read Pippa The Pumpkin Fairy.

The kids squeeze the tennis ball and place an eraser in it's mouth. There is resistance when squeezing the ball which is strengthening those hand muscles!

Math: Decomposing Number 7
New Concept: Today, like yesterday, we will play match me, but we will
be using the number 7. I am going to use two colors to make 7. So I am
going to use blue and orange cubes. If I start with 2 blue, I will need 5
orange to make 7, because 2 and 5 make 7. I need to be sure that I go
back and count each cube to be sure I have 7 in all. Count with me as I
touch each cube. Now, can someone help me match it?
Now, I want to make 7 a different way. I can start with 4 blue, how many
more do I need to make 7? Provide additional examples of decomposing
the number 7. Be certain to show them the combination using 0 and 7 as
one of the combinations.
Whole Group ExploreYou will be building the number 7 in lots of different ways. Once you build it, your partner will match it. See how
many different ways you can make 7.
Student Application: Students will practice writing the number 7.
