Math: Decomposing Number 7
New Concept: We are going to keep working with the number 7 today,
but I want to show you how you could write about the combination you
created. I am going to use different colored cubes to make 7.
I need to remember to count them. So, I will use 4 blue ones and 3 orange
ones. Let’s count them all together. Now I am going to use my math talk
card to write them down. Show the students how you write in “4 and 3
make 7.” Now I need to make another set of cubes that matches my first
set.
Whole Group Explore: Today, you and your partner will play match it
with 7. Then you will take turns writing the different ways you made 7.
Student Application: Students will practice writing the number 7.
Students will use two different colored crayons to make 7 in a variety of
ways. They will write the different combinations they created.
