Reader's Workshop: Again, we will use the poem Hot Cross Buns to work on using inflection, expression, and intonation to make their reading sound like talking. We will then move into reading Look at It Go! to practice these skills.

New Concept: Today I want to teach you a new game. This game is called “Shake, Shake, Shake.” We are going to start with 5 counters in my cup (count them as you put them in). Now I am going to shake them and spill them out on the floor. I have to be really careful to keep my pieces close to me. Now I can talk about this. “I have 2 red and 3 yellow. Whole Group Explore: Students will play Shake, Shake, Shake with their partner. Each student will complete their own response paper. The first line will have the symbols (+, =), but the rest of the paper will require the students to write the entire equation.
NOTE: This activity will be repeated over the next few days.
