~Draw conclusions using clues in a text and what they already know.

DAILY 5
~Make inferences to help draw conclusions.

New Concept: Today we are going to play “Shake, Shake, Shake” again. We are going to start with 8 counters in a cup (count them as you put them in). Now I am going to shake them and spill them out on the floor. I have to be really careful to keep my pieces close to me. Now I can talk about this. “I have 5 red and 3 yellow...That makes 8.” I can also write about this. 5 + 3 = 8. Repeat this demonstration a few times.
Whole Group Explore: Students will start with 8 chips in their cup. Half way through the explore, we will add another chip to their cup.
