Friday, September 15

Friday, September 15

Mrs. Weninger, our school Social Worker, is coming to our classroom each Friday morning from 8:35-9:00. Today, Mrs. Harlan and Officer Coon (School Resource Officer) will join her to talk about being respectful, responsible, and safe at school.

Phonics: Manner of Articulation
Sounds are produced by sending air up from the lungs through the mouth or nose. Consonant sounds disrupt the airflow in some way. The manner of articulation is the way in which the airstream is disrupted. Stops are consonant sounds that are produced by completely stopping airflow. Nasal, or nose sounds are produced when the air is shut off from coming out of our mouth, and instead comes out through the nasal cavity.
Stops: /p/, /b/, /t/, /d/, /k/, /g/
Nasals: /m/, /n/

KinderMath: Count to 5 and Back
Again, it may seem like an easy concept, but children need to accurately count orally, count objects, and identify the missing number when counting forward and back. We are building the foundational skills for counting and cardinality.
What better way to teach this than to work with the story, Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed!
