Sight Words: had, how
Math: Match Me Plus One or Minus OneWith partners, partner 1 builds a set using cubes. Partner 2 rolls a cube that has +1 or -1 on it. Partner 2 matches the same number of cubes that partner 1 has and adds or subtracts one to their set. An important piece is to do 'math talk'. After the sets are built, the children should say something like this: "8 is one more than 7." or "7 is one less than 8."
Switching from +1 to -1 can be tricky. This lesson will be repeated a couple of times for the kids to get additional practice.
Watch for it to come home today...Due Monday.
We will not visit the library today as 'Battle of the Books' for the upper grades is taking place.
DAILY 5: We will be taking a trip to the "DAILY 5 Bookstore" to get new books to read in our browsing boxes. This is the book room in our school that contains most of the books used for Guided Reading.
