Happy New Year! The children are making a picture of themselves blowing a horn to ring in 2015!

Color Word Focus: red

 Language Arts: Introduce the comprehension strategy: Make Inferences
 Writer's Workshop: What did you get for Christmas?

Math: Working on Putting Parts Together to Make Another Number
The kids roll a dot cube twice to put on the 'parts' section of their workmat. For instance, if a 3 is rolled, they put three cubes on one part. If a 5 is rolled, then five cubes are put on the other part. How many in all?
Eight cubes are put in the 'whole' section of their workmat.
