We begin focusing on the sight word 'a' today. Each week, two words will be introduced and worked with. We call them "Popcorn Words" because they 'pop' up everywhere in reading! 

Reading Comprehension: Using the poster Busy Family, the children will find the main idea and supporting details.
Lesson Objectives:
~Identify a stated main idea based on a picture.
~Identify details that support the main idea.`
~Ask questions about a picture.
~Use academic sentence frames to discuss strategies.
Math: Count to Tell How Many & Writing 3, 4, 5
New Concept: We are going to be counting and matching numbers with cubes again but this time we are going to write the number down. First I am going to pull a number card out of my bag. This is the number 3 and now I am going to build a tower of 3 cubes. I need to check that I have the right amount by touching each cube and counting them. 1, 2, 3.  Now I will write the number 3 down.  
Whole Group Explore: In partners students will play “Match it". One partner will pull out a number from the bag, build a tower, and write the number. Then saying “Match it” the other partner will build a tower that matches and write the number. 
Student ApplicationStudents will trace the numbers 2-4
Students will count and write to 4.
*This was lesson was postponed from Friday due to the heat.
