SMART Room: We will spend about 20 minutes a day in this room designed for movement while incorporating small and large motor movements with academic skills. The kids will be learning the Helicopter Spin and Alligator Crawl today. Ask them to show you how we do this!

Math: Same-Different Sort

New Concept: Have students pile their shoes in the center of the carpet. Hold up two shoes that match and say, These two shoes are the same because they are both…? (many will say the same color). Then select two shoes that are the same in color but not an exact match and say, These two shoes are the same color but they are not exactly the same. One has____ (shoelaces) and this one has ______ (Velcro).

So they are the same in color but different because______. Show the vocabulary cards for same and different. Same means that the objects are like each other. These two shoes were the same in color. Different means they are not exactly the same.

~When returning the Wednesday envelope, fold it in half and place on the school side of their folder. Thanks!
~If you haven't done so, send in an extra set of clothes and undergarments to keep in your child's locker.
