Reading Skills
The students work with me to answer additional text-dependent questions on the posters below...
Literacy Shelf
Again, the children select literacy-based activities off a shelf to increase skill development for letters, sounds, and words.
Math: 2D Shapes
Today we are going to look at the shapes again. I am going to hand two shapes to you and your partner. Now I want you to lay them down on your desk. Tell your partner what you are noticing. (They are the same color, they are the same shape, they are different). Now I want you to bend down and look at the cards from the side of your desk. What can you tell me about your shape now? (nothing, they can’t see the shape). These shapes are called flat shapes or 2D shapes because they are flat… like a pancake!
Whole Group Explore: Today you will sort flat shapes by their curves or with edges. On one side of your paper, you will glue the shapes that have curved edges. On the other side you will glue the shapes that have straight edges.

Lesson 2: Laws
1. Read: What if Everybody Did That? By: Ellen Javernick
2.What would happen if there were no school rules? Post some examples, like: What if everyone talked when the teacher was talking? No one would learn. What if everyone ran in the halls? People could get hurt.
3.What would happen if we had no rules outside of school? What if there were no STOP signs? People could get hurt. This is why we have special laws. Laws are rules that everyone must follow wherever they go.
4.Laws help to keep people safe.
5.We are going to talk about some laws and why they are important.
Independent/class work:
Draw a picture of yourself following the law.
