Letter Focus: Cc
We begin focusing on the sight word 'a' today. Each week, two words will be introduced and worked with. We call them "Popcorn Words" because they 'pop' up everywhere in reading!

Math: Same & Different Using 2D Shapes/Count to Tell How Many
New Concept: We have been talking about sorting. We have sorted by color and by shape, but we can also sort objects by their size. Some of these cups are little (small) and some are big(large). I can count the number of cups and write this number on my sorting mat. I can also sort these shapes by their size.
Whole Group Explore: Today, you are going to get with your math buddy and sort these shapes by size. Once you have them sorted, you will count them and write how many you had in each group.
Student Application: Students will write the number 3.
Students will color by size. Then count the number of shapes they have in each category. They will write that number in the cloud at the end of each column.

The children are continuing to learn about the calendar routine and how to enter the data into their 'laptops' (calendar books) that coincide with the slides on the Smartboard.
Computer class with Mr. Mavencamp today.
Throughout the year, volunteers from the community share their love of reading by being a storybook reader for our elementary students to enjoy. Sometimes the reader will dress like a character from the story. Our reader this morning is scheduled for 9:30 to read Rufus Goes to School.

Bus Safety
I cross the street safely in front of the bus.
~Again, Mrs. Weninger teaches Character Education to our class on Fridays. She introduced herself to the children on Friday and started talking about Mindful Movement and using a chime to focus and calm themselves. It is sort of like taking brain breaks. In the pictures below, she models using the chime with Olivia
