Each day the kiddos have a chance to choose some activities from the Literacy Shelf. Some of the activities include lower-uppercase letter match, rhyming, syllables, ABC puzzles, stories on CD and more.
Handwriting: C
Math: Same and different, matching quantities to 3
New Concept: Today we are going to talk about matching items that are exactly the same. I will lay out 3 squares. Then I will match it on the other side of the paper. I need to make sure I have the same thing and the same amount. I need to count and touch each thing as I count it. On this side I have 3 blue squares and on this side I have 3 blue squares. Repeat modeling while counting each set. I will model it incorrectly (1 on one side, 2 on the other) to talk about how they are not the same.
Whole Group Explore: In partners, students will play “Match it". One partner will put items on one side of their mat and say, Match it.” Their partner will then match the manipulatives.
Student Application: Students will trace the numbers 1-3.
Students will match items to 3
Students will count and write to 3.
