The students work with me to answer additional text-dependent questions on the posters below...
Literacy Shelf
Again, the children select literacy-based activities to increase skill development for letters, sounds, and words.
Math: 2D Shapes
Today we are going to look at the shapes again. I am going to hand two shapes to you and your partner. Now I want you to lay them down on your desk. Tell your partner what you are noticing. (They are the same color, they are the same shape, they are different). Now I want you to bend down and look at the cards from the side of your desk. What can you tell me about your shape now? (nothing, they can’t see the shape). These shapes are called flat shapes or 2D shapes because they are flat… like a pancake!
Whole Group Explore: Today you will sort flat shapes by their curves or with edges. On one side of your paper, you will glue the shapes that have curved edges. On the other side you will glue the shapes that have straight edges.
Social Studies: Citizenship
1.Read No, David! and discuss some of the rules that David broke.
2.You have rules at home. What are some of your home rules?
3.We have rules at school, too. There are different rules for different places (gym, cafeteria, library, etc.). Talk about some of those rules.
4.Rules keep us safe and help us learn.
5.We have special rules for our classroom. Today we are going to read them and come up with a movement for each one.
6.Read classroom rules one at a time. Work with students to come up with a hand or body motion to represent each rule.
