Happy Birthday Freya!
YES DAY!
**In a child's world, 'no' is often heard but that's not what they will hear today!
We will start our day reading Yes Day! by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and then close out the year with the following 'yes' activities:
~No shoes.
~No need to be quiet or walk in a line down the hall.
~Extra recess.
~Sit where they want on the rug.
~Root beer floats.
~Extra playtime with candy!
~No schoolwork!
Our final computer class is today.

~We enjoyed celebrating with Hannah yesterday!

~My Wishy Washy Crew...

~PLEASE set a routine to have your child read the passages in the orange folder and practice the Irregular (Heart) Words throughout the summer! It will help them retain  decodable skills, build fluency, and gain automaticity!

~After reading the Irregular (Heart) Words, choose one or two your child could write in a sentence.

~For the passages in the orange folder: (Choose one)

1) Child reads whole passage.

2) Adult reads one sentence, child reads next sentence to the end of the passage.

3) Echo Read: Child reads the sentence after you to the end of the passage.
Of course, reading to them ALL summer is highly encouraged!
~As I write this final update, I know in my heart I have given all that I could to help your child learn and grow. They helped me grow in so many ways too! We became a 'kinderfamily' which will forever be a part of my heart and memories that will be cherished. More importantly, they have given all they could to be such great learners! I want to thank all of you for making our partnership be what it was for the benefit of your child. My hope is that someday they will all say:
All I really need to know I learned in Kindergarten!
Happy trails to you, until we meet again...

The kids will wear Mrs. Wishy Washy's headpiece so they can scrub our classroom like she does with the farm animals. The kids will get aprons to wear and plenty of water to use in order to get the job done!  8th Grade Battle of the Rube Goldberg Machines!
We are heading to the high school this morning to watch the 8th graders test their skills at making a Rube Goldberg Machine.

Where did this idea come from?
Rube Goldberg was an early 20th century Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist. He was
known for his depictions of wacky inventions which did something exceptionally simple through many complicated steps.

~What a FANTASTIC graduation...Hats off to all of you for giving me a priceless gift!

TOP SECRET!!
Don't tell anyone that we are going to run and scream in the halls while everyone is outside for Track & Field! We are going to take full advantage of this since we have been told all year long to walk and be quiet in the hall.
ðŸ˜Š At the conclusion of the events, we will resume our normal day with some fun events.

If you are picking up your child today, knock on my exterior classroom door (The one with the sidewalk leading to it.) as other doors of the school will remain locked during the day.
