Math: The Dime
First, the kids hear a story and view a short clip on YouTube about the dime. Next, they will sing a few songs about it and finally, explore a real dime closely. This same routine has been done for the penny and nickel too.

We are heading to the high school this morning to watch the 8th graders test their skills at making a Rube Goldberg Machine.

Where did this idea come from?
Rube Goldberg was an early 20th century Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist. He was
known for his depictions of wacky inventions which did something exceptionally simple through many complicated steps.
