Phonics
Our phonics program comes from the University of Florida Reading Institute (UFLI, pronounced "you fly") which teaches children explicit and systematic phonics so that they have a stronger foundation in both reading and writing. This program is researched-based and aligns with the Science of Reading-essentially, how parts of the brain are wired to make connections for phonemes (sounds), graphemes (letters), decoding (sounding words out), and encoding (writing words).
KinderLiteracy
KinderLiteracy is our reading program we use in kindergarten. It digs deep into texts to help build understanding and meaning through weekly themes that support comprehension, essential questions, and story elements.
This week's theme is Sharing and the focused text is: Rainbow Fish By: Marcus Pfister.
Today, the children will hear the story for enjoyment and build an interest in the topic and expand their prior knowledge about friendship.
KinderMath
We begin our math curriculum today. Please read the overview in this photo for detailed info as to the 'why' we use this kind of math.

The first unit is Numbers 0-5
See the photo below to see lesson 1 overview. Some lessons include related literature as well. Today's lesson: Numbers 1, 2, 3
