Phonics: Introduction to Fricatives & Affricates
A fricative sound pushes air through a small opening and it makes friction. These sounds are:
/f/, /v/, /th/, /s/, /z/, /sh/, /zh/, /h/
Affricates are sounds that push air through a small opening very quickly. These sounds are:
/ch/ & /j/

**We will revisit vertical and horizontal lines by making the letters H, T, & I.

The kids will answer simple recall questions from Rainbow Fish as well as review related vocabulary (glide, shimmer, shocked, admire, wise).
