Social Studies Connection: Perseverance

In this fiction text, children meet a young girl named Mei Mei and her grandpa, Gong Gong. Gong Gong teaches Mei Mei how to do tai chi, and she works hard to figure out the complex hand, arm, and leg movements. Mei Mei teaches Gong Gong how to do yoga, and he works hard to learn the different poses. Even though they both struggle to learn new things, they persevere.

Workshop: "How To" Celebration
The "how to" unit has come to an end and it's time to celebrate! The kids will tell their stories to one another and then dance to some celebratory music with disco ball lights! Watch for their work to come home today and I encourage you to have them tell their stories to you!

Math: Subtraction Stories Day 2

We will work on more subtraction stories within 10. Today, they have a pond scene with frogs to use for solving the story problems.   

Project: Earth Day Wreath

               ~ The kids picked up a lot of garbage yesterday...our school grounds look so good now! Today we are going to look through what we found and sort out anything that can be recycled.

~The River City Readers were fantastic! They sure kept the attention of the children through their storytelling animation and captivating voices!

~ Just for fun...have your child wear Minnesota Timberwolves attire/colors on Monday.
