Writer's Workshop: Generating Ideas
The kids will work on drawing and labeling four ideas of things they know how to do really well in preparation of writing their "How to" book.
Math: Addition Stories
In this lesson, the kids will continue to work on addition but move into word problems. To help launch today's lesson, we will read What's New at the Zoo by: Suzanne Slade. Addition word problems require a lot of listening comprehension skills. These skills will, at times, need more practice than the addition equation itself. Farmer John has a mommy cat and kittens. The mommy cat was outside the fence and the 4 kittens were inside the fence.
How many cats are there in all?
1 + 4 = 5
