 Sight Word Review: but, how

To celebrate the last day of I Love to Read month, the kids will be playing Book Bingo from 8:30-9:00 this morning and watching Home on the Range afterwards.

Sight Word Focus: his
Reader's Workshop: Using the poster My Dog and My Cat, the children will identify comparisons and contrasts in photographs and text. They will also determine important text, such as compare-and-contrast signal language.

  ~A storybook reader is scheduled for 8:30 to read The Three Little SUPERPIGS.

 Writer's Workshop: Sentence Buddies
The children will make a 'Sentence Buddy' to reinforce what they have learned about sentence structure. See the picture below of what he looks like...

  Math: One More, One Less

The children are confident with one more and one less. However, this lesson will help them to solidify that confidence. 

• Activity One: Pairs will work together to use their baggie of numeral cards to line up their number cards 9-20.

• Activity Two: Pairs will have their numeral cards readily available in front of them. I will call out commands like, “Find the number that is one more than 12. Find the number that is one less than 20.”

• Activity Three: Pairs will need their number cards and 40 snap cubes. The kids will place a number in the middle. One partner will show the set that is one LESS using cubes, and the other partner will show a set that is one MORE with cubes.
