Colors are Stories
**Today's lesson sounds something like this:
“I would like for you to close your eyes and pick your favorite color. Now think about items that match your color. Did you see how picturing one color helped you create more ideas?”
"Choose the color you pictured in your mind. Then we are going to use your color inspiration sheet. I would like for you to color 4 items that match your color.”
“Now that you have completed your color inspiration sheet, I would like for you to choose one of the items to write for your story today.
“I will share with you about my favorite color. My favorite color is pink. I think I will write my story about cotton candy. I will write, ‘I like cotton cande. It is yumme.’ Now it’s time for you to write about your favorite color item."

Today’s lesson will focus on students comparing numbers 11-20 once again. However, this time the kids will also be focusing on the numeral itself. I will once again use the book, Counting Snails, to have the kids assist me in counting sets of objects. This time I will write the matching numeral that goes with each set.
“How many star fish do we have? {17} How many dogs do we have? {15}” I will write both numbers on the board. Have students turn and talk with their partners to discuss the comparison. Have students explain their thinking with questions like, “How do you know?” and “Can you prove that?”
“How many vehicles are red? {14} How many stars are yellow? {16} Again, I will write both numbers on the board for the kids to discuss the comparison.
