We saved the character/setting & labels your child did yesterday so they could write a sentence or two about it today. When their story is finished, they will use the Writer's Checklist to see if all the components of the story are in place. (Capital letter at the beginning of a sentence, punctuation, finger spaces, etc.)

Math: Minus Sign
The kids are working hard to gain an understanding of subtracting and it's time to focus on this abstract symbol. To begin the lesson, the kids will hear the story, If You Were a Minus Sign by: Trisha Speed Shaskan. Next, the kids will hold up the minus sign or equal sign of where they belong in the statement when acting out the following scenarios...
*There were 5 kids at the park, but then 4 of the kids walked home, (5 – 4 = 1).
* 6 dogs were in the yard but 4 dogs ran away, (6 – 4 = 2).
* 5 butterflies were on the flower but 2 butterflies flew away, (5 – 2 = 3).
