Our shining star this week is Avery!
Our 'Paws for Reading' Kick-off for I Love to Read month is this morning beginning at 9:00.
Word Family: -ap
Language Arts: Using the Reader's Theater story At School by Fransisco Blane, the children will help build a concept web pertaining to school (as pictured below). Through the first reading of this story, they will build concepts about print and build academic/sight word vocabulary.
Writer's Workshop: I model 'visualizing' of getting a letter in the mail and how it felt. The next step is to draw a picture of that scene for the kids and slowly write. "I like to get cards." (Focus: stretching out words, spacing.)
Popcorn Word: how
Color Word Focus: pink
Daily 5!
Daily 5!
Math: Build It/Change It
To start the game, a player turns over the top card (Let's say it is a 4.) That player places 4 counters on the Ten-Frame. The next player draws a card (Let's say it is a 6.) This player needs to change the number of counters on the Ten-Frame so that it matches the number on their card. (6)
Their work focuses on:
~Creating a set of a given size.
~Adding or subtracting from one quantity to make another quantity.
