Math: 2D Shapes:
  Today we are going to look at the shapes again. I am going to hand two shapes to you and your partner. Now I want you to lay them down on your desk.  Tell your partner what you are noticing. (They are the same color, they are the same shape, they are different). Now I want you to bend down and look at the cards from the side of your desk.  What can you tell me about your shape now? (nothing, they can’t see the shape). These shapes are called flat shapes or 2D shapes because they are flat… like a pancake! 
Whole Group Explore: Today you will sort flat shapes by their curves or with edges.  On one side of your paper, you will glue the shapes that have curved edges .  The other side you will glue the shapes that have straight edges .  
Students work to cut, sort, and glue  shapes (curves, no curves). 
DAILY 5: They made it 8 minutes at 'Read to Self' yesterday...This is a HUGE success!

SMART Room: Carry the pumpkin that is full of sand while walking on the balance beam...it's harder than we think!
The kids will make a small firefighter puppet and small book about fire safety.

~What a fabulous trip we had to the fire station! The children seemed to really enjoy seeing, hearing, and trying out some of the equipment. A special thank you to Firefighter, Steve Peterson for taking the time to share his knowledge with us!
