Comprehension Strategies: Main Idea and Supporting Details (Chapter 2)
Again, using the book What Are Some Rules at Home? the kids will:
~Build academic vocabulary and concepts related to rules.
~Ask questions about a text.
~Identify main idea and supporting details.
~Identify and discuss nonfiction text features (BOLDFACED WORDS and captions).
DAILY 5
We are reviewing the 3 ways to read a book:
~Look at the pictures.
~Read the words.
~Retell the story.
The children will work on building their reading stamina with a personal bin of books for each of them.

Handwriting: G
Math: 2D Shapes
Hold up one shape at a time and ask students to describe what they see. (triangle, square, diamond)
Whole Group Explore: Ask students to look for items around the room that have a similar shape.
Regroup students and have them share the items they found. They will then lay the paper over some attribute blocks and lightly color. The shape of the block will appear on the paper.
*Zero the Hero visits today! Day 20.
A storybook reader is scheduled for 9:30 to read Pippa the Pumpkin Fairy.
The kids will learn about 9-1-1 and how it's ONLY to be used in an emergency.
The children will draw and dictate how a firefighter helps us. We will deliver their work to the firefighters tomorrow.
