The Scientific Method
Scientists Conduct an Experiment
Connect: Remember yesterday when we said that a scientist thinks about their question and makes a hypothesis?
Teach: Today I am going to show you how scientists conduct an experiment to test their hypothesis. Let me show you what I mean. Remember yesterday when I said: My question was: What will happen to gummy bears when you put them in plain water, vinegar water and baking soda water? My hypothesis was: They will get bigger. I can record on my paper my hypothesis.
Active Engagement: Now it’s your turn. You are going to be a scientist! I want you to think about what YOU think each gummy bear is going to look like. Draw pictures to show what you think will happen. Invite the children to fill out their recording page.
