KinderLiteracy: The Snowy Day
The kids will work on sequencing and retelling the story.
Writer's Workshop: Characters and Setting
Literacy Jobs
The kids will listen to the story, Tally O'Malley by Stuart Murphy and focus on counting by 5’s and understanding the use of tally marks. The kids will then get to apply their skills in using tally marks by taking inventory of the classroom. They will walk around the classroom and take inventory of the items listed on the sheet. The kids will continue to work with counting by 5’s and using tallies to do so. Then using popsicle sticks, they will create sets of tally marks to 20. After the sets of tally marks have been made, they will go back through and count the sets; 5, 10, 15, 20 and mark them with pictures of hands.
~Yesterday, the kids were treated to a "book tasting" experience during their library time with Mrs. Thomas. She was ready to "serve" them some delicious books that they could "order" and "take out" for enjoyment at home. The kids had so much fun!
~Last call for any spare change to bring for I Love to Read month prizes. Thank you so much for helping with this fundraiser!
~I am looking forward to visiting with those of you who are scheduled for conferences this evening!
