Turkey Day!
Project: A Perky Turkey Lurkey
 The kids will be previewing Santa's Secret Shop today to get some ideas of what they may want to shop for next week. Info about this will be coming home today.


A storybook reader is scheduled for 10:10 to read  Turkey Trouble .
 Computer class is from 9:00-9:30 today followed by about 10 min. of IPAD time.

A great BIG turkey is scheduled to visit our classroom this afternoon. Rumor has it that this turkey looks A LOT like Mrs. Tongen! That turkey sure hopes she doesn't end up like this on Thanksgiving Day:

  Letter Study: Vv
 Popcorn Word:  we
Phonological Awareness: Produce Rhyme: The teacher rolls a ball to someone and says a word. The child says a word that rhymes with it and as a class, we determine if it is a real or nonsense word.

Segment Initial Sounds: The teacher says an action word and the kids repeat the beginning sound twice and the action word once while patting and clapping.
EX: /w/ /w/ wash
Language Arts: Using the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears, we will work together to identify the story elements. (characters, setting, problem, solution)
DAILY 5
Writer's Workshop: We will continue to work on the rough draft of our class story emphasizing the beginning, middle, and end to the story.
Math: One-Two Patterns
This lesson is about working with the pattern similar to hopscotch however, we work with color times to notice how the arrangement forms a pattern. Their work focuses on:
~Determining what comes next in a repeating pattern.
~Constructing repeating patterns.
Smart Room:
 ~If you haven't done so, be sure to return the homework Shoo, Fox, Shoo! comprehension sheet.
~The totals aren't in yet for the food drive. I am anxious to find out if our class earned a pizza, popcorn, or candy party!

Part of a pattern is built and the rest of it is hidden from a friend. The friend determines what comes next. Their work focuses on:
~Determining what comes next in a repeating pattern.

We will be attending the holiday program rehearsal for grades 1-3 this afternoon beginning at 1:15.
Smart Room: Today is the last day of the November theme.

Letter Study: Review letters/sounds (T, U)

 Language Arts: Learn strategies for analyzing questions and finding answers, clues, and evidence in a text.
*Look for the homework sheet that will come home reinforcing these objectives. It is due on Monday.


Math: Pattern Block Snakes
The kids are constructing paper pattern snakes today. Their work focuses on:
~~Determining what comes next in a repeating pattern.
~Constructing and recording repeating patterns.

The kids have music from 9:50-10:20 today.
