Math: Ordering Cards
This lesson involves placing playing cards in order from least to most. Let's say an 8, 1, 3, and 10 are drawn. The children will place the cards like this: 1,3,8,10. Numberlines support this skill as it isn't always easy to tell what comes next if it isn't the number that comes right after it. I encourage you to do this with your own deck of cards at home as this is an important skill the kids need to know. Their work focuses on:
~Ordering quantities from least to most.
~Developing language for comparing quantities (more, most, less, fewer, least).
**DAY 2 of this lesson.**
Smart Room Highlight: Bouncing on the Stability Ball while reading our popcorn words.
We are honored to welcome Operation Iraqi Freedom War Veteran, SW1 Sean Nies (Unit NMCB 25) to our classroom today. He will explain to the children what a veteran is, the work he did in Iraq, and share some pictures of where he was stationed. Thank you for serving our country, Sean!
