Thursday, March 26
Blend Focus: bl
Language Arts: Continuing our work through the story Children Past and Present, the kids will explore more comparisons/contrasts to life in the past to life presently.

Handwriting: lowercase h
Math: Using the number cards 1-10 and a "One Ten and __ Ones" spinner, the kids will count out how many cubes needed to match the corresponding spin. For instance, if they land on "1 Ten and 4 Ones", they count out a group of 10 cubes and 4 more to make 14. Next, they find the "10" card and "4" card. They will place the "4" card over the "0" portion of the 10 card-making the number 14. They will continue building and making other numbers using the spinner and number cards.
The kids will also work in their Splash Math account on the Ipads.

Writer's Workshop: Again, continuing our work on Informational Reports, the kids will hear a report about coral reefs which is inside the book Discover Informational Reports. We will point out that two ways to learn about a topic is to read facts and find facts in photographs. To finish Writer's Workshop, the kids will write in their journal on a topic of their choice.

 Daily 5!

Math: The children will use their fingers to show 10 and __ ones. I will say something like this. "Today I want to show you how you can use your fingers to count to numbers that are more than 10. I am going to use the spinner to make the number with my fingers. Then I will use a math talk card to talk about the number. You will first flash 10 fingers then the fingers needed to show the 1’s." The kids will have partners to practice this strategy.
