Popcorn Word: were
Phonics: Blends-bl
Language Arts: Comprehension Strategy: Compare & Contrast
Through the poster What is Soft? What is Hard? the children will determine important text, such as compare-and-contrast signal language.
Math: Yesterday we had fun counting items in the egg carton. Our egg carton worked well, but sometimes we don’t have a tool like that to use. So the kids will count the contents of one bag into a pile of 10 and line up the leftovers. They are working on noticing that a pile of 10 is only 1 pile and that any leftovers are the "ones". Next, the children fill in the following on a laminated card:
____ tens and ____ ones make ___ in all.

Writer's Workshop: Continuing our work on Informational Reports, the kids will hear a report called A Whale is Not a Fish! which is inside the book Discover Informational Reports. We will point out what a topic means and a fact means. To finish Writer's Workshop, the kids will write in their journal on a topic of their choice.
____ tens and ____ ones make ___ in all.
