Math: Addition Equations
New Concept: Today we are going to play “Shake, Shake, Shake” again. We are going to start with 6 counters in my cup (count them as you put them in). Now I am going to shake, shake, shake them and spill them out on the floor. I have to be really careful to keep my pieces close to me. Now I can talk about this. “I have 4 red and 2 yellow. That makes 6.” I can also write about this. 4 + 2 = 6. Repeat this demonstration a few times. Whole Group Explore: Students will start with 6 chips in their cup. Half way through the explore, we will add another chip to their cup.
