Wednesday, April 6

Wednesday, April 6
Phonics: Blend Friend: fl
 Popcorn Word: there
Language Arts: Using the poster Follow the Rules, the kids will identify cause and effect in the picture and text as well as make connections to deepen their understanding of the text. We will also cue in on signal words that signify cause and effect. (because, so, since, then, if, etc.)

Writer's Workshop: The kids will make convincing posters to hang in our hallway. Things like...You should throw paper towels in the garbage because it keeps the floor clean.

Math: Ten and _____ more make _______.
New Concept: Yesterday we had a fun time playing “Pass the beans.” Our egg carton worked so well, but sometime we don’t have a tool like an egg carton to use. So you can make a pile of 10. Watch! Count the contents of one bag into a pile of 10 and then some ones. Model using the math talk card.
Whole Group Explore: Today, when you play, “Pass the beans” like we did yesterday, you will make a pile of ten, then use the math talk card. When the teacher gives the signal, students will “Pass the beans” and the bag of manipulatives will rotate in a clockwise direction. Continue this until all items are counted. Remember to use the math talk card.
As students are exploring, notice which students need to count the items in the carton vs. the students who started with 10 and counted on.

Student Application: Students will work independently on circling ten items from a group of items larger than 10.
**Zero the Hero will be here today-130!

I'm looking forward to you and class today.
We will paint with sponge brush and little wells of paint.
We'll use Monet dab technique.
I think they will like it and should be easy.
