Friday, October 11
Fire Safety Day
~The children are viewing a 9 minute video called Sparky's ABC's of Fire Safety.
~The kids will write about their favorite memory at the fire station.
Project: Time to finger paint a fire truck!
Letter Study: Review letters/sounds (I, J)
Language Arts: I will reread the story The Three Little Pigs to help the children cue into how I read the story to build fluency. We will identify some 'sound' words throughout the story: (huff, puff, bump, thump, splash, slammed, knocked, whispered)

DAILY 5: I am so proud of how much these kiddos can do already! They are becoming more and more independent as the days go on! Taking it slow and training their brains to build muscle memory is helping them to become beginning readers and writers.
 Math Stations:
~Matching sets game
~How many letters are in my name?
~Finishing the Halloween counting book with Miss Slettedahl

Each week the kids will be working with the Time for Kids (current events) magazine. One classroom subscription is shared amoung 4 classrooms so your child will be able to bring home one copy a month. The topic for today is firefighters.

Library Day!

SMART Room Highlight: Here you see Brayden trying to balance on the beam while carrying a heavy pumpkin pail. Brianna is waiting for her turn.
~Conferences begin Monday evening from 4-7. A reminder that there is NO school for elementary students on Wednesday, October 16 due to conferences. High school will be in session.
~Be sure to stop in at the Book Fair next week! If you want, be sure to check out our classroom wishlist of books.

Savor the wonderful colors this weekend...They are getting gorgeous!
